5 practices to stay sane in a hectic city 🙏🏽Articles . Blog
Oh, this hectic city the cars the noise the hustle… How do we say balanced, centered, happy and sane in such a chaotic scenario as NYC can be? The way we tender, love and care for ourselves Will dictate how our reality is. We are all in this journey of learning how to be joyful. And sometimes it can be more challenging than others some places can be more challenging than others due to all the triggers they mean for us, especially if this place glorifies Non-stop working, looks down onto people taking time to heal and reconnect with themselves That’s why I believe it is also important to take action as well, in order to state balanced. #1: Starting our day focusing on our physical and spiritual well-being. What is the first thing we do in the mornings? How do we step from the dream world into the hustle? My morning ritual is one of the most important parts of my day. On the day’s I have more time, I try and do a 1hr yoga routine a 10 min. meditation and make myself a nutritious breakfast. I always sip mama cacao with maca, mucuna and chaga mushrooms. I also take CBD oil as it keeps me relaxed and worry-fee. Fill half the dropper and before swallowing place it under your tongue for 30 seconds. CBD is a natural derivate from the hemp plant. It doesn’t have any THC, Meaning it won’t get you high and it doesn’t have any psychoactive effects whatsoever. CBD interacts with the healthy functioning of our ECS, which is the endocannabinoid system, a system present in all mammals which, when functioning correctly, keeps our body healthy and in balance. There is a CBD boom right now. And a lot of companies are hopping on the fashionable CBD wagon. Some of these products have little or no CBD at all. That’s why I partnered with Green Roads for this video, as they are my go-to brand for all things CBD. Green roads is a pharmacist founded company with third party lab testing for their products. So if you’re interested in trying any of the products that Green Roads offers I partnered with them in order to give you a 15% off any of their products. You only need to use the code CARO15. all of this will also be linked on the video’s description after breakfast and CBD, I tried to write down my intentions for the day, pull a card and now I’m ready to start my day off. Just then I check my phone for the first time on the day. #2: Knowing when to head the city. Timing is everything for this one. as much as I usually stay in Brooklyn and my art studio, I do go to Manhattan sometimes, but I already know which are the best times for me to head the city To run errands or whatever it is I need to go and do there. There is a difference in going to Times Square a Saturday at 6 p.m And going a Monday at 7 a.m I know that crowded noisy places can be a trigger for me sometimes so I avoid the city at rush hours. Instead, I’d rather go run my errands first thing in the morning when there’s only a few people around and everyone seems to be in a better mood. This is also true for going to the beach in the city; I like to be at the beach by 7 a.m Instead of heading there at noon when everyone is just arriving and it starts to get crowded I’ve already been there for five hours with more mental and physical space, less chaos, and I’m ready to head back home. #3: Check in with yourself! Remember why you’re here! if you moved here like I did, remember what brought you here in the first place. Check-in with yourself and see if those reasons are still valid for you today or even if new reasons have appeared. Always check in with yourself and ask yourself if this is where you want to be today or if this is helping you get wherever you want to go or if you want to achieve something or something you dream of. If being in the city is helping you achieve something in the future. Always remember that this ideal future is only worth it if you are grateful for being in the journey today Today is what matters the most because if we’re always looking for tomorrow Tomorrow will never come. Checking in with yourself also means being true to yourself and notice what you need. I need nature. So I always make my way to spend time in nature. Be it the beach or upstate New York. When I have the budget I also try to go back home to Peru, and surround myself with nature, family and friends Which I need the most, I haven’t been back in two and a half years So looking forward going some time soon. #4: the power of breathing It is such a cliche thing to say, but it’s a cliché for a reason, How many times we find ourselves stressed, angry, confused? Just wanting to be at home holding so much that we even forget to breathe Breathing is such a powerful tool we all have and just taking a very long deep breath in, and a very long breath out can really change our state of being completely Yes, going to a breathwork class, trying kundalini yoga, holotropic breathwork, doing a meditation in a studio or going to a sauna Can help elevate our breathing techniques and help us deepen our practices in outstanding ways. But if this isn’t something that you can afford right now there a gazillion YouTube videos that you can see for either Breathing or yoga. I love yoga with Adriene’s Channel. I also use for meditation the waking up App by Sam Harris. And just try breathing very deeply in and out Even doing some simple as that is such a game-changer. #5: Sleep! A stress-free day starts the night before. Getting the right amount of sleep is crucial for feeling happy, rested and energized the next day. When possible I try to go to bed around 10:00 p.m And wake up around 5:30am, lately has been more like 6:30 in a hectic city that never sleeps like, NY, There’s a bunch of people running around feeling FOMO all the time, but I invite you to join me and experience JOMO, Which is the Joy Of Missing Out. There is always something going on in the city and it is very important to check in with Ourselves to see when it’s more important to actually cancel plans, Or say no to going out and knowing when it will be more fruitful for you to rest rather than go out. I hope this video was helpful for you! I would also love to hear what are some of your ways to stay sane in a hectic city.
